Doug Hurst, B.Sc. - Chairman, Director

Mr. Hurst has over 25 years of experience in the mining/resource industries having acted as geologist, consultant, mining analyst, and senior executive. Mr. Hurst holds a Bachelor of Science in geology from McMaster University (1986). He was a mining analyst with McDermid St. Lawrence and Sprott Securities and a contract analyst to Pacific International Securities and Octagon Capital up until 1995. From 1995 to 2003 Mr. Hurst operated D.S. Hurst Inc. a company offering corporate, evaluation and financing consulting services to the mining industry. He was a founding executive of International Royalty Corporation from 2003 to 2006 and a director of the company until 2010 when the company was purchased by Royal Gold for $700 million.

Michael G. Allen, P.Geo., President, CEO & Director

Mike comes to Northern Empire with a wealth of experience in the mining industry.  Mike has a strong background in project evaluation, recently evaluating in excess of 400 gold projects worldwide. This effort lead Mike to identify and negotiate the purchase agreement of a significant gold project in Nevada. On the strength of the asset, Mike was part of the team that raised in excess of $30 million to complete the transaction and acquire the project.  Post-acquisition, Mike was a strong advocate for the project, meeting with stakeholders to receive permits for the project, as well as a member of the team that completed a positive Pre-Feasibility Study. 

Mike has negotiated and maintained numerous option agreements to acquire properties in Canada and the USA, with vendors such as Queenston Mining, Newmont Mining and Fronteer Gold. Shareholder relations is also an area where Mike has excelled, meeting with individual retail clients to institutional investors and analysts to advocate for the Company and project. 

A geologist by training, Mike graduated from the University of Alberta in 1997 and 1998, and started his career exploring for diamonds.  While exploring for gold in the Arctic at the Hope Bay project, Mike was fortunate enough to work with Northern Empire Director, Adrian Fleming, after which he joined DeBeers to assist in developing the Snap Lake Mine.  Mike has a strong technical background having explored for gold in the Arctic, British Columbia, Ontario and Nevada as well as base metals, both in Canada and internationally.  Mike has worked in both open pit and underground mines, as well as managing construction of new mines and exploration crews while making safety the highest priority.  

John Robins , P. Geo - Director

Mr. Robins is a professional geologist based in Vancouver, BC, with over 25 years of experience as an independent exploration geologist and entrepreneur. A 1984 graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Geology, Mr. Robins initially worked as a self-employed prospector and geologist in BC and Northern Canada. In 1988, he founded Hunter Exploration Group, one of Canada's most successful private exploration companies. Mr. Robins has also been active in starting several successful public exploration and development companies culminating in 2005 with his co-founding of the Discovery Group of Companies and most recently the Aurora Resource Group. In addition to his role with the Aurora Mineral Resource Group, Mr. Robins also sits on the Boards of several successful publically traded exploration companies.

Jim Paterson - Director

Jim served as Northern Empire's President and CEO from November 2014 until June 2016 and continues to be an active director. Appointed CEO of Kivalliq in 2010, Jim was a driving force behind more than CDN$57M in equity financings, one of the largest uranium exploration programs on the globe, and a 200% increase in mineral resources at the Lac 50 deposit from 2010 - 2013. Jim has 18 years of corporate experience with several North American publicly traded companies, participating in acquisitions, joint-ventures, spin-outs, reverse transactions and IPO's. Since January 2010, Jim has been involved as an executive or as an active director of companies which have raised in excess of $150 million in equity financings. Jim founded, was President & CEO, and Director of Corsa Capital Ltd. - a company which acquired and capitalized coal mining assets in the USA. In addition to Northern Empire, Jim serves as a director of Kaminak Gold Corporation, Kivalliq Energy Corporation, and Bluestone Resources Inc.; all mineral exploration companies listed on the TSX Venture Exchange.

Adrian Fleming, P. Geo - Director

Adrian Fleming is an Australian geologist with over 30 years of global diversified experience in the mining industry, including exploration, project development, and operations. Mr. Fleming was most recently the President and Director of Underworld Resources Inc. which made a significant gold discovery on the White Gold Property in the Yukon. Mr. Fleming has held a number of senior positions, including Exploration Manager for Placer Dome in Sydney, President of Giant Yellowknife Mines in Toronto, and Vice President of Exploration for Golden Star in Denver. Mr. Fleming presently serves as an officer and director of other TSX Venture Exchange listed issuers. His successes include involvement with teams that discovered, advanced, and developed gold mines, including Porgera in Papua New Guinea, Big Bell in Australia, Gross Rosebel in Suriname, and the new discoveries at Naartok and Suluk in Nunavut.

Darryl Cardey, CA - Director

Mr. Cardey obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia in 1990. Mr. Cardey has served as an officer and/or director of several publicly traded companies, and is the principal of Cardey Management Corp., a private British Columbia venture capital firm, and has extensive corporate finance contacts both in North America and Europe. Mr. Cardey was founder and Director of Underworld Resources acquired by Kinross Gold in 2010.

Jeffrey R. Sundar, Director

Jeff has over sixteen years of experience in the capital markets and mineral exploration sector. In his role as V.P. Corporate Development, Jeff successfully oversaw Northern Empire's corporate development, marketing, and financing since 2014. He was a founding director and Vice-President of Underworld Resources, which discovered the 1.6 million oz White Gold deposit in west-central Yukon and was subsequently acquired by Kinross Gold for $138 million in June 2010. Jeff is a founding director and Executive Vice President of Genesis Metals Corp. (GIS: TSX-V), where he recently led his team through the successful acquisition of the Chevrier Gold deposit in Quebec.

Bill Cronk, Chief Geologist

Bill Cronk, P.Geo., has over 25 years of experience as a geologist and manager of exploration programs for precious metals, base metals, and uranium deposits. Bill has worked in Africa, Europe, North and South America; with more than 11 years of combined exploration experience in Alaska and the Canadian Arctic. Bill's level of expertise ranges from grass roots reconnaissance right up to advanced stage and pre-feasibility work. While working for companies such as Dundee Precious Metals, Placer Dome, BHP and Noranda Inc., Bill gained valuable management experience with business development, project generation, program design, budget implementation, project management, and corporate and government compliance. Bills hands on experience includes exploration for Au, Cu, Cu-Ni-PGE, Zn, Zn-Ag and U. In a previous role as an exploration manager for Homeland Uranium, Bill's primary goals centered on uranium exploration in Niger's "Tim Mersoi Basin", and project development of rhyolite hosted uranium in Peru's "Macusani Plateau". Most recently Bill was part of the exploration team at Kivalliq Energy which developed the Lac Cinquante Deposit into a world class Uranium resource of 43 million pounds at 0.69% U3O8.

Robert Scott

Robert Scott, CPA, CA, CFA brings more than 20 years of professional experience in accounting, corporate finance, and merchant and commercial banking. Mr. Scott earned his CFA in 2001, his CA designation in 1998 and has a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia. He is a Founder and President of Corex Management Inc., a private company providing accounting, administration, and corporate compliance services to privately held and publicly traded companies. and has served on the management teams and boards of numerous Canadian publicly traded companies with a strong track record of cost effectively running operations. Mr. Scott has also listed several companies on the TSX Venture Exchange gaining extensive IPO, RTO, regulatory and reporting experience, and currently holds senior management and board positions with a number of TSX Venture Exchanges Issuers.
